Collagen

Collagen is a protein or peptide in our body and a very important component of our connective tissue. It is not only important for bones, cartilage, tendons and teeth, but also for our skin. The structural protein forms a kind of scaffolding under our skin and is thus responsible for the elasticity and tensile strength of the skin. 

The formation of collagen decreases with age, causing the skin to lose elasticity and the first wrinkles to appear. To counteract these first signs of skin aging, it is therefore important to help the body from the inside and outside to maintain the existing collagen and to form new collagen. 

A team of scientists published a study in the framework of Oxid Med Cell Longev in May 2020. They successfully proved that the synergistic effect of a collagen drink can not only reduce oxidative damage, but also improve cellular functionality to compensate for the harmful effects caused by UVA.

In 2009, the journal Biosci Biotechnol Biochem published a study that examined the effect of daily collagen peptide intake on skin damage caused by repeated UV-B exposure. These results indicated that collagen peptide in the form of dietary supplements is beneficial to skin damage and photoaging caused by UV-B, playing a positive role in suppressing such damage.
